Design by Deborah

When we moved into our 17th century cottage it was in need of some restoration and urgent redecoration throughout and we were overwhelmed by both the size of the task and our lack of knowledge and experience. However, Deborah's expertise and flair for the use of colour and furnishings has enabled us to create a look totally in keeping with the age and character of the house. She really listened to what we said we wanted and then brought lots of great ideas of her own to help us achieve something we are really proud of - thanks Deborah.

Having lived in Madrid for three years we decided to build our own house. Nearing completion in 2005 we were given a colour palette to decide what colours we wanted all the walls in the house to be painted. I consulted Deborah as she had done a presentation on interior design fo quite a few of us ex-patriot ladies. We wanted to add some colour but didn't know where to start, especially as I have always preferred neutral colours whilst my husband prefers strong, bold colours. Deborah was great at helping us to think about how we could use not only different colours, but also different textures and patterns as a way of adding interest to our rooms. Deborah also took me on a few escorted shopping trips where she encouraged me to look at lots of things that I would normally not have even noticed. I am very pleased with the result and with Deborah's help, we now have a beautifully decorated home.

My teenage daughter had a good idea of how she wanted her room to look but we didn't have the time to look for the right wallpaper, curtains, bed linen etc so Deborah came up with some really great suggestions and did all of the ground work for us. The end result is fantastic and my daughter now unashamedly invites her friends round so that she can show off her new room.

Although we had completely redecorated the house we had moved into six months earlier, we still weren't really happy with the way our new house looked so we asked Deborah for help. The problem was that our furniture, which we love, didn't seem to work in our new house. Deborah quickly identified a number of simple but very effective changes to the layout of the furniture and the location of various pictures in order to create two separate areas within our lounge that work beautifully together. We are so happy that we now have the cosy but stylish living space we were looking for, without having to replace our much loved furniture.
